Working with students and their families to improve educational outcomes and experiences

ALL SESSIONS ARE HELD VIRTUALLY

Systematic Reading Instruction
with a Focus on Students with Dyslexia

Level 1 Dyslexia Specialist through the Wilson Reading Program and a Center for Effective Reading Instruction Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist.  Carolyn can provide a systematic literacy program focusing on decoding and spelling as well as fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Common Core Math Support

Trained in the Common Core in Grades K - 8, Carolyn spends time explaining to your students and YOU the "new way to do math". This approach focuses on previewing and reviewing as well as addressing previous skills not yet mastered

Writing Support

The Writing Revolution, which is used at the Windward School, breaks writing down so that not only do students write better sentences and paragraphs, but they can understand the content in their classes better. Carolyn integrates curriculum and content to teach writing skills. In addition, she can work with students on editing and revising.

Executive Functioning

Otherwise known as the secretary of the brain, executive functions are one of the last skills for any student to develop, and can often cause a lot of academic troubles when students do not have the skills to plan, organize, prioritize, or focus on their work. While this can often be a struggle for both the student and the family, Carolyn is skilled at breaking down each skill and helping students apply it to their work.

Homework Help

With changes in curriculum and busy lifestyles, sometimes helping your student with his/her homework is more of a headache than useful. Let Carolyn help your student complete their homework and address any gaps in learning.

Family Support

Carolyn is also available to consult with families on the evaluation process, understanding learning differences, accommodations in class and for high-stakes assessments, and school placement
